A Parent’s Guide for Journaling to Their Child: Simple Strategies for Writing Heartfelt Love Letters to Your Child
About the Work: Do you wish you could write to your child, yet you have no idea what to say? This unique guide comes from Roni Wing Lambrecht, a mom who began journaling to her only child, Dalton, before he was born. Sadly, Dalton passed away prior to having the opportunity to read all the wonderful words his mom had written to him. Roni and, her husband, John, believe Dalton’s Journal has been immensely helpful in their grieving process and they often credit the journal with saving their marriage as they travel through their indescribable grief. They want to be sure every parent/guardian has the opportunity to put their love for their children into words, even when parents assume they don’t know how to write.
The prompts within this guide embrace numerous topics Roni had written about in the journal to her son, and even more topics she had never thought of until he was gone. The journal you write can be thought of as a gift to your child, with the intention they’ll someday read and share it with their own children. It’s also a beautiful gift when life’s circumstances have been altered, and either the parent or the child are no longer around to speak of the memories contained within the journal. The most precious gift you can give your child is your love. Showing your love in writing makes it a tangible treasure forever.
About the Author: Roni Wing Lambrecht was just a typical wife and mom from Castle Rock, CO, working long hours to make ends meet, when her entire world changed in a split second. Her beautiful son, Dalton, left for Heaven just after Christmas in 2013 due to injuries from an ATV vs Sandrail accident. Her son, Dalton, lived his short life creating smiles, laughter, and happiness by sharing his kind spirit and helping others through tough times. Roni and her husband, John, now continue his legacy by practicing random acts of kindness in Dalton’s memory each day. They also help other parents live in-the-moment with their own children by sharing their truths about regret and finding beauty in the everyday chaos of family life.
Roni’s books, Parenting At Your Best, A Parent’s Guide for Journaling to Their Child, and A Parent’s Journal For Their Child, are a tribute to Dalton, with anticipation that the stories and advice they offer will inspire others to excellence in their parenting.
- The book is a useful guide to all those who want to write love letters to their children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or other loved ones and also teaches them to write one in return. The book helps on how to start writing and what to write. It is an honest and direct journal that will help to store memories and precious moments beautifully. I found the concept interesting and different, and the topics are separated in a way that helps readers to plan their written words. The three sections – past, present, and future – will touch the hearts of all at any given time and the contents are priceless. I found the general tips and reminders shared in the book useful, and they contribute in making the journal personal and memorable. The journal is a good gift for weddings, baby showers, and birthdays, and can be kept in one’s personal collection as it teaches everyone to display their love and affection openly.
